Weeding Your Garden
I don’t know about you, but I have those days…days where everything seems to go wrong. Where a so-called friend spreads gossip. A family member hurts my feelings. And the list could go on.
Whenever I have a negative thought or stress out over things happening in my life, I use a technique that I learned called “weeding my garden.”
First of all, I may be one of the few people who LOVES to weed. In fact, if I spy a weed in a community garden (or anywhere), I pull it.
So, here’s what I say to myself:
Is this thought or stressful situation a “weed” that is taking up space in my lovely garden and needs to be plucked?
Or, is it a flower/plant that I need to tend, nurture and help thrive?
So, what you are really doing is yanking out all the negative thoughts and focusing your attention on the healthy ones.
What techniques do you use to turn the negativity in your life into positive reinforcement?
