Reflections on My Hiking Trip

Every year, for the last five years, I have made it a point to hike at least one national park every year.  Not only are our national parks amazing, but it’s good to get away and reflect—reflect on my life and on my business.

This picture was taken at Arches National Park in Moab, UT.

This particular hike was 7.2 miles on a primitive trail.  This trail is not for the faint of heart.  Walking along cliffs.  Hopping over boulders.  Climbing down ravines.  Lizards. Cactus.

Yes it was difficult, but after the hike was over, I felt totally empowered!  What I mean is, I’ve never really hiked more than 5 miles in my life.  I’ve never hiked under such grueling conditions.  I am afraid of heights.  But, I did it.

So, here’s the thing—as a woman, I know it’s sometimes impossible to get away from your business.  Your life.  Your family.  However, consider doing something “outside your comfort zone” for just one day.  Get up out of your chair (or your car) and try something you’ve never done before.

I’m positive that you’ll feel empowered too—and return to your office with a new determination!

What have you done that has made you feel empowered?
