Are You Reacting To Someone Else’s Agenda?
I just Googled the term “time blocking” and found 199 million results with books, blogs, videos and articles on how to manage your time.
While it may work for some women, it can also be a pain in the rear if some issue or emergency takes priority.
Here’s the thing: most people spend their time responding to someone else’s agenda instead of their own.
So, think about using “Task Management” as a way to make sure that you get the important things done.
Task management is a way to focus on what’s “essential” for your business and your life.
It’s not busywork.
It’s proactive versus reactive.
It means that you get the important things done—ON A CONSISTENT BASIS!
So, I wanted to share an example of task management and how it would apply to your files in process:
Monday Morning – Meet with an assistant/processor and review EVERY single file. This includes pre-apps, pre-approvals and files in process.
- Review each file
- Determine tasks that need to be completed on each file
- Assign who is going to do what on each file
Wednesday Morning – Meet/talk with processor.
- Review each file
- Determine WHAT has been completed
- Determine WHAT else needs to be done
- Assign who is going to do what on each file
Thursday – Mid-morning
- Review what has been accomplished on each file that week
- Identify any loose ends/issues that have not been resolved
Here’s task management and how it would apply to your sales and marketing:
Tuesday Morning –
- Call 3 past clients (offer to send them an Annual Real Estate Review)
- Call 3 real estate agents (even if it’s to update them on a file)
- Set up one lunch for the week.
Review what I just wrote. Consistency is key. It’s task oriented. It’s proactive. You have created “time” to get other tasks done. And it’s an easy way to create a system to cover both the business and sales & marketing side of your business.
