10,000 Hours
So, it’s mentioned in Malcolm Gladwell’s book, Outliers, and in Gary Keller’s book, The One Thing.
It’s a study on what makes you a “master” at what you do for a living.
Those who become REALLY, REALLY, REALLY successful have spent a minimum of 10,000 hours mastering their skills.
That would mean that if you work 40 hours a week. Attend seminars. Read mortgage industry blogs, articles or videos. Keep up with the mortgage rules. Take loan applications. Market yourself. It would take you about 4 years to become a master.
It’s overwhelming right? Based upon my crude calculations, it could take up to 9 years to spend 10,000 hours if you have a family life. Take vacations. Volunteer. Have a hobby.
Here’s the thing. Most women get frustrated because they are not an instant, mega success. But you’ve got to put in your time.
My point?
Stick with it. If you’ve been in the mortgage business 4+ years, you’re almost halfway there.
